RAPID WRINKLE REPAIR
I’ve been using this moisturizer as a consistent part of my skincare routine for more than five years. In my opinion, Rapid Winkle Repair - Regenerating Cream - Fragrance Free is one of the best and most dependable introductory over-the-counter retinols currently available on the market. This product is an absolute staple for me, and a formula I continue to circle back to whenever I need a more gentle retinol-based option.
Not all Vitamin A derivatives are created equal.
I don’t recommend using a prescription-based product like Tretinoin as your first anti-aging or resurfacing skincare experience. Generally speaking - it is far better to start low and go slow. You will want to incorporate a more gentle retinoid and build up your skin’s tolerance overtime. For those of us with sensitive skin - it can be extremely challenging - not to mention frustrating - to incorporate Vitamin A derivatives into our skincare routines without experiencing increased irritation.
To this day - I’ve been using retinoids for well over a decade - I still experience irritation on my neck when I use precription-only products like Tretinoin and Tisarotene - and I have to be careful on my neck with retinaldehyde as well.
If you want to get into using retinoids on a regular basis, I recommend starting with Retinol, and incorporating a formula that doesn’t compound on actives - meaning that you’re not introducing multiple actives into your routine at once. Once you can tolerate using Retinol daily - I recommend upgrading to retinaldehyde a few times a week, building up to daily use if you can - gradually.
What is unique and special about this moisturizer, is that the retinol is effectively stabilized.
It is widely understood that keeping active ingredients stable for the entire term of their shelf life - and thus effective - is challenging - especially for over-the-counter products. Neutrogena uses Accelerated Sustained Action Retinol - an exclusive, patented combination of ingredients that work together to increase the overall stability and absorption of the retinol into the skin. Neutrogena is also owned by Johnson and Johnson, which is a large pharmaceutical company. They have done numerous clinical tests on there Accelerated SA Retinol - which is available in multiple Neutrogena products, and on this moisturizer, to demonstrate its overall effectiveness.
There is nothing that differentiates this moisturizer from any other retinol product available on the shelves of spa and meds clinics.
